Our History

Inzaihistory Fidelity Investments founded KVH in 1999. We began constructing our own cutting-edge fiber optic networks and data centers in Tokyo and Osaka with the aim to become the highest quality, facility-based carrier to serve the complex telecommunications needs of enterprise customers doing business in Japan.

We continued to invest and grow our business when all other foreign-owned carriers withdrew from the Japanese market following the dot-com crisis of 2000. We opened our first data center in Osaka in 2001 and Tokyo in 2002, and we have grown our services and assets to encompass colocation, managed services, and cloud computing technologies.

Select significant milestones in KVH’s journey include:

1999: Established by Fidelity Investments
2001: Introduced 2.4Gbps Leased Line Services – a first in Japan
Opened Osaka Data Center
2002: Launched Ethernet Services - a first in Japan

Today, more than a decade since founding, KVH is regarded as one of the most innovative network and hosting companies in Japan valued for its network speed, agility, and high quality of service and multilingual support.

In the future, we will continue to invest in our capabilities in delivering integrated network and IT managed services to become Japan’s leading information delivery platform – the platform on which enterprises compute, store, and deliver vital corporate data to drive their business.
