KVH Features at Private Seminar with Uchida Esco
On November 24, Akemi Fujita, Senior Marketing Executive at KVH, attended a private seminar organized by Uchida Esco as a guest speaker.
The session, titled “ICT Operational Risk Hedges – Data Center Utilization for Disaster Prevention and Energy Conservation”, discussed tips on how to improve an organization’s business continuity planning (BCP) by leveraging the power efficiency of data centers, as well as customer case studies of businesses that have implemented such strategies.
It was stated that it is not only the redundancy of the system configuration, but also the use of server and desktop virtualization technology combined with resilient data centers that enables continuous operations throughout attacks, natural disasters, and security breaches.
In the first session of the seminar, Mr. Ohwaku, Mr. Nakabayashi, and Mr. Takegaki of Uchida Esco detailed several customer case studies, the issues those customers had previously faced, and how their solutions enabled those customers to handle these issues effectively and efficiently. They also explained how the use of desktop/server virtualization, data centers, and cloud services are all effective in enhancing system availability, and the session concluded by talking through actual proposal overviews that had been adjusted to suit customers’ requirements and budgets.
In the second session of the seminar, KVH talked through the main features that require extra attention when choosing an appropriate data center, introduced KVH TDC2 and its facilities, and discussed the key advantages of using a high-density data center.
One of the biggest advantages of using a high-density data center is the ability to minimize the number of racks and amount of operational costs required, since a high-density data center will maximize the electrical capacity of each rack to ensure optimum efficiency.
