May 9, 2011: KVH to Offer Virtual Server-Based IaaS - Achieving Carrier-Grade Cloud Services with Convenient Features at Reasonable Prices

Press Release: May 9, 2011

KVH Co., Ltd announced today the launch of KVH Virtual Private Server (KVH VPS), a new IaaS service addition to KVH’s Information Delivery Platform.

KVH VPS offers flexibility and reliability with a 99.9 availability SLA (service level agreement) as well as a low total cost of ownership (TCO). KVH VPS has no initial installation fee, regardless of order size, and minimum monthly charges begin at 8,400 yen including the Internet connection.

Since June 2010, KVH has offered IaaS Dedicated Servers on its proprietary cloud services platform that utilizes KVH’s own data centers and high-speed networks. KVH has tuned its services to meet the high reliability requirements of the financial services market as well as the requirements of large-scale SaaS platforms.

KVH VPS can be configured as either a private cloud for specific users of private networks or as a public cloud platform for content providers and SaaS vendors. Depending on the number of virtual servers to be installed on each physical server, users can choose either the performance-oriented “Guaranteed Allocation (GA)” VPS service or the cost-oriented “Dynamic Allocation (DA)” VPS service. Both of these services can be available within two hours of purchase.

“KVH is pleased to announce the addition of virtualization to its market-leading IaaS platform,” said Joe Duhamel, Executive Vice President, Systems & Technology, KVH. “We believe that virtualization adds flexibility, scalability and strong cost-performance to our existing IaaS portfolio.”
