April 30, 2010: KVH to Launch Cloud Services for Corporate Customers - Delivering a Variety of IT Solutions through a Newly Developed, Scalable and Reliable Platform
Press Release: April 30, 2010
KVH Co., Ltd. today announced that it will launch KVH Cloud Services, a series of cloud computing services designed to bring the benefits of cloud flexibility to corporate customers in Japan. Newly developed at KVH’s highly secure and reliable data centers directly connected to KVH’s own networks, the new platform will deliver KVH Cloud Services at a level of scalability and flexibility previously unavailable in Asia. KVH will offer “KVH IaaS” (Infrastructure as a Service) and “KVH PaaS” (Platform as a Service) from June 1st, 2010.
Leveraging its leading-edge infrastructures based on the mission-critical needs of the financial industry, “KVH IaaS” offers high reliability and security through this new scalable and configurable multi-tenant platform. The platform delivers servers, networks, and storage on an as-needed basis for enterprise customers as well as IT service providers. With “KVH IaaS,” customers can realize scalability through rapid demand fulfillment, allowing them the flexibility to customize computing power at any given point in time. In addition, KVH’s swift provisioning ensures availability within hours to enable customers to meet tight project deadlines and budgets. Finally, wrapping these new services are enterprise-grade Service Level Agreements (SLAs) covering availability, performance, and incident response time to provide peace of mind to the customer by ensuring KVH’s commitment to service excellence.
“KVH IaaS” is capable of various delivery models, including the Private Cloud for enterprise customers and the Public Cloud for content providers or SaaS vendors. All delivery models satisfy the IT infrastructure needs of corporate customers and are supported by a uniquely developed proprietary Operational Support System (OSS). This OSS provides automated “no-touch” provisioning for accurate and economical IT resource configurations. “KVH IaaS” service offerings are fully managed and are supported by KVH’s 24 x 7 bilingual service desk.
As part of “KVH PaaS,” KVH offers Unified Communications and expands the portfolio throughout 2010 to include services such as Document Management and Workflow Management. Through “KVH PaaS,” KVH aims to market a full suite of “business infrastructure tools” that are essential to enterprise business activities.
Bill Chute, Vice President of the Managed Services Business Unit of KVH said, “Since its Tokyo Data Center opened in 2002, KVH has been strengthening its IT management service capabilities to focus on corporate customers’ mission critical needs. IT management is still a key priority for our customers to improve their operational efficiency, but at the same time, our customers seek further reduction of their total cost of ownership and require a more flexible and scalable IT system environment. Our new KVH Cloud Services will comprehensively meet these diverse needs and ensure customers benefit from our best-of-breed platform. With abundant experience in IT management and state-of-the-art infrastructure, KVH is delivering Asia’s leading information delivery platform.”
