- Supporting Corporate Risk Management through Highly Accurate and Cost-Effective Service -
Press Release: August 18, 2011
KVH Co., Ltd, Japan’s leading information delivery platform providing integrated cloud and network solutions, today announced the launch of KVH MailScan MX, a new cloud-based e-mail security solution offering inbound and outbound e-mail filtering services for corporate e-mail risk management from August 22, 2011. KVH MailScan MX has an accuracy rate of 99.9% for spam which is guaranteed by an accuracy Service Level Agreement (SLA).
KVH MailScan MX was developed to confront the constant threats corporate networks are faced with when sending and receiving e-mails, including those from spam, phishing, or the leakage of confidential information by malware or system hacking. The new service is built on the KVH Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) platform, consisting of carrier-grade robust data centers and low-latency networks, and offers a variety of functions including a filter for inbound and outbound e-mails, a portal site, and further service tuning is also available.
Since the platform is hosted in the cloud, customers are not required to install any hardware or software. The service has no initial installation fee, and a monthly fee is generated based on the number of users. KVH’s bilingual support, monitoring and operating of the mail system functions 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year, ensuring a reliable and stable mail environment. The service can also be combined with other KVH services such as KVH Internet Access Service, KVH EtherMAN and KVH Cloud Services.
KVH has partnered with SMX, a global leader in e-mail security, for the implementation of the new e-mail filtering platform. SMX’s product has a false positive rate of 0.0004% (clean e-mail misclassified as spam), which has been recorded over the past 5 years. The service is also not required to quarantine e-mails, saving time and efforts spent on e-mail management. Combining KVH’s secure cloud platform with SMX’s advanced features, KVH MailScan MX provides customers with highly reliable, swift, and cost-effective e-mail solutions.
“Today many companies are facing operational difficulties related to antivirus software or e-mail security appliances because of their low rate of accuracy and increasing maintenance costs,” said Joe Duhamel, Executive Vice President, Systems and Technology of KVH. “This is why KVH provides e-mail security services as part of its IT management portfolio. With the combined experience and expertise of KVH and SMX, KVH MailScan MX enables more accurate service at a lower price to address the latest security needs of our corporate customers.”
